Specialization in photonics and nano-system engineering (PSY)

Master specialization in applied physics and physic engineering (PAIP), spécialization in « photonics and optical materials» (POM)

The Chair in Photonics offers Supélec engineer students and students enrolled elsewhere to become specialized in photonic systems and communication (SPC). The specialisation includes the following program:

The Chair in Photonics offers CENTRALESUPELEC engineer students and students enrolled elsewhere to become specialized in PHOTONICS AND NANOSYSTEM ENGINEERING. This specialization program is organized as follows :

A set of lectures organized in a so-called CORE SEQUENCE :

  • Introduction to photonics and nanosystems
  • Field properties and propagation
  • Nanomaterials
  • Numerical methods
  • Information physics

A set of lectures in a so-called THEMATIC SEQUENCE PHOTONICS :

  • Nonlinear photonics
  • Photonic components
  • Optical signal processing
  • Nano-optics
  • Minor 1 – Digital communications
  • Minor 2 – Photonic computing
  • Minor 3 – Conception of electronic systems
  • Minor 4 – Nonlinear science

The specialization in « PHOTONICS AND NANO-SYSTEM ENGINEERING » is also included in part in the MASTER IN APPLIED PHYSICS AND PHYSIC ENGINEERING (PAIP), with specialization in «Photonics and Optical Materials» (POM), which is a joint diploma between CentraleSupélec and University of Lorraine.

That specialization of Master level is offered to not only engineering students from CentraleSupélec (double diploma engineering from CentraleSupélec and master degree POM) and to students external to CentraleSupélec and already graduated at the Master M1 level.

A set of lectures from CentraleSupélec :

  • Photonic components
  • Nonlinear photonics
  • Optical signal processing
  • Nano-optics

A set of lectures from University of Lorraine:

  • Components for optics and optoelectronics
  • Spectroscopy
  • Numerical techniques for optics
An internship of 5 months in public research lab or in research and development in a company

To apply

  • Students from CentraleSupélec enrolled in the Supelec curriculum: admission following the criteria of enrollment in third year engineering program
  • Students enrolled elsewhere:

Procedure to enroll for a specialization degree FREEMOV
in PHOTONICS AND NANO-SYSTEM ENGINEERING :

(open to students from partner engineering schools and giving access to a so-called Certificate of Scientific Education in Engineering with 60 ECTS)

See the procedure for specialisation engineering degree

Procedure to enroll for the master degree in applied physics and physic engineering with specialisation in “photonics and optical materials” (POM):
